Product design for comfortable stays in nature
Design Concept
Earthboat is accommodation designed for people to step away from daily life and spend comfortable time in nature.
The locations where Earthboat is installed include attractive yet sometimes harsh natural environments, including areas where snowfall can reach 2 meters in winter. For this reason, rather than approaching it as simply constructing a building, we began the design process from the perspective of creating outdoor gear that can continue to function in nature. Like well-used tools that stand the test of time, it must be durable, resilient to the environment, and consistently functional. We designed it with the awareness that it would be used repeatedly under severe conditions, ensuring a robust and reliable structure.
At the core of the Earthboat experience is time spent outdoors. The stay is not confined to the interior space alone; instead, the surrounding natural environment is considered part of a single unified space. From outdoor living areas to circulation leading to warming functions such as the sauna, and the interior as a shelter, we aim to create a spatial experience that encourages guests to step outside naturally, without compromising comfort throughout their stay, regardless of season or weather.
To establish this experience as accommodation, functionality alone is not enough; the product itself must also be attractive. It should inspire people to think, 'I want to stay here,' and make them want to share the time with someone special. To evoke such feelings, we believe the space must possess a quiet sensuality and intimacy. For each model, we engaged in deep discussions about what kind of design would realize this vision, and reflected that in the architecture.
Through the format of accommodation, Earthboat aspires to be a product that allows people to truly experience the richness of time spent in nature and the beauty of outdoor living.

Earthboat Hut
Earthboat Hut is the first model of Earthboat, designed with the assumption that it would be placed in regions with heavy snowfall. The design began from highly practical and concrete conditions—responding to snow accumulation unique to snowy regions and creating a space where guests can stay safely and comfortably even in severe cold.
Earthboat Cave
Earthboat Cave is the model designed after Hut, envisioned for locations slightly down from deep snowy mountains—places like the entrance to a rural village. While not as extreme as heavy snow areas, these mountainous regions still retain a strong sense of nature. It is imagined for stays in environments such as lakesides, forests, or areas where plains begin and signs of human life gradually appear.
Earthboat Nomad
Earthboat Nomad, as its name suggests, is a model designed to be placed more freely and in a wider variety of locations. Developed under the theme of 'smaller and lighter,' it can access secluded lands and compact sites where previous models were difficult to install due to size and weight. Following Cave, which descended from the mountains to the rural outskirts, Nomad moves even closer to everyday human life—or slips lightly into the spaces in between.
